There are so many great crafters and artists out there that I decided a good way to bring them together would be a quilt block swap... Now I know what you are picturing, one of those star patterns or alternating triangle patterns, but no, that is not what I am implying here. I would like to get a group of people together to trade ideas and make artwork into quilts or anything else you can come up with. The specifications are as follows:
1. You will receive a swap pal name and address along with the color scheme or theme of their quilt.
2. You will have 1 month to make 2 blocks for that person and send it to them. The blocks must be 12 1/2" x 12 1/2". You can make them in a traditional fashion, paint them, sew things to them, embroider them, stencil them, or anything else you like. It can be plain or simple, just make sure to follow your swap pals specifications so their project can be unified.
3. Your name will be assigned to someone else who will then do the same for you.
4. At the end of the month all the names will be reassigned and at this time new members will be added or current members can have their names taken off the list.
This blog will be where we get to show off the quilt blocks received and when you feel that you have collected enough for a quilt or even a matching set of pillows, you can post that here too, or any other comments, questions, and statements.
Please send your info to quiltblockswap@gmail.com
What you need to send to me to get signed up:
1. Your name
2. E-mail address (which I will send your invite too so you can post)
3. Your blog address if you have one
4. Your physical address
5. The answer to these questions: Are you allergic to cats or any other pet? Do you have a cat or other pet that someone might be allergic to? Is there a color scheme or theme that you are planning on or any other specifications?
I will reply with a blogger invite within 24 hours (most likely sooner) of receiving your request. You must follow the link in the e-mail to be able to create posts on this blog.
The sign up deadline for each month is the last Sunday of the month. I will send out swap pal info by the 1st and all quilt blocks must be mailed out by the 1st of the following month.
For example, the deadline for the July swap is Sunday, June 25, 2006. I will send out swap partner info on July 1st and the blocks need to be sent to your partner by the 1st of Aug.
If you miss the deadline do not distress, e-mail me anyway and I will add you to the next months swap list!

Kristin this is a great idea!! This doesn't sound like the run of the meal type of block swap. It sounds more like it is artsy too. Even though at this time my schedule is such that I can not participate maybe in the future I will be able to. Good luck to you. Keep up the great ideas.
