More Blocks

Well I came home a couple weeks ago and found a lovely package from Judy, my June partner (we agreed June was a vacation month!). I asked for jewel tones( with a preference for batiks) on solid black background with a sort of Amish feel. She sent an awesome block!! I have attached a photo of it. Thank you Judy!
I mailed out my June and July blocks and I will share a photo of those blocks in a few days. Don't want to ruin the surprise for Judy and for Annie!

I also am attaching a block a made for my LQS. They are making a quilt for the local childrens' hospital. The theme is favorite pets or other favorite animal. I took a photo of one of our little 3 week old kittens. I love the way his eyes point all the wrong way! I had fun making the block using the Angle Play Templates. First time I ever tried using them. Just thought I would share!

I'm back...

I know it seems I fell off the face of the earth, but I am finally back. I am late on 2 blocks and they are going out at the end of this week. I have to whole weekend to catch up. :-) If you are expecting a block from me and don't get it by the end of next week, please send me an email so that I know that I still need to send yours. I think I have everyone on the list that I need to send one to. Again, I am so sorry they are late.

Thanks,
Amanda (AJ)

Blocks

Hello Everyone.....
I received these blocks last week. Sorry I am slow to post.
Mary, I'm sorry - your block is almost done, but my machine decided to have some technical difficulties. I should have it done this weekend. Mary was sweet enough to send me two great blocks!

This block came from Dana in Arizona. Thank you Dana, I'm glad your feeling better.<

Finally.. I can Blog

Hello!
Newbie here. I finally figured out how to sign into this thing called a blog and then to post a post! LOL..
Quick intro for ya'lls. My name is Jana, I live in Puyallup, WA. Work full time. Have two big dogs, two fat cats, two lil kittens we are having to bottle feed, two sons (25 and 20), one DIL(20) and one absolutely beautiful granddaughter, 8 months.
It was when I learned of my impending grandmotherhood that I took up quilting. Thus far I have only finished several baby quilts. My niece and nephew also recently had babies, so they got quilts too.
I have attached (I HOPE) a picture of my latest baby quilt project. I am still working on what to do for the border. I pulled a real boner and cut the focus fabric for the border too short. And it is even too short to use cornerstones to make it long enough. So.. this one may take me awhile.
So, now, let's see if I manage to post this post and post that pic and so on.. if it works, I may post the pics of my partners' blocks for June and July.

Til then...
Be well.
Jana

Block Pics

I've not posted anything on here for a little while, so I thought I'd post an update of my latest swap blocks. This first block is the block I made for Anne, my June swap partner. She said she liked rich colours, and also liked to incorporate satins or brocades into her work.

This next pic is of the block I made for Susan, for the April swap. Her theme was pink and brown, with muslin ecru as a third, accent or background colour. This is the second block I made for her as the muslin fabric I had on the first seemed to frey very easily, and just wasn't very good. The background fabric is a civil war repro fabric, and has pink and ecru colours in it. I've tried to keep it quite plain so that Susan can add some muslin, or otherwise build on it if she wants to. I really like the dragonfly design.

Susan - I still haven't heard from you! I hope you got the block okay, and I hope you like it.

And finally, these are the blocks I made for Dana for the May swap. Dana said she wanted red, white and blue!

I hope everybody I swapped with liked their blocks, I'm currently making up a block for Melissa and hope to be posting that early next week.

I hope everybody else is having a great summer!

I'm Back

Hello everyone -

Sadly, I've been away for awhile to attend a funeral. A friend that I worked with 15 or so years ago died in his sleep - age 52! It was a sad time and I was so glad to get home. I'll be leaving again a week from Thursday to see my mom in Seattle for a few days. Then, I think I'm staying home for awhile. :-)

I'm mailing AJ's block from June (I let her know I was out of town) and Sandi's July block tomorrow. Let me know when they arrive. You were each supposed to get two, but I'm away more than I'm home this month! :-0

Hope y'all had a great 4th - Dana

Quilting Help

I hope this is ok to post, but I am looking for some good websites on hand piecing and hand quilting. I want to learn to do these two techniques and I can't find any local classes. I have tried QNNTV, but they don't have much and I need more.

If this is not the right way to ask for help I will delete the post, I just don't have a quilting connection anywhere else :-).

New partner information

Ladies,

It has come to my attention that some of the information in the July partner assignments is not correct. There have been issues with the database and changed made months ago are no longer recognized.

Please check with your partner to make sure she has the correct information. If it is not correct, let her know and also send me an email so I can re-update the database.

Since not everyone visits the blog, I will send everyone an email, also, but I figured posting it would give us a head start.

So sorry for any confusion or inconvenience.

Sandi
